I thought today I would give you a reminder about some words not to use when working with a client. One of those groups of words is “I don’t know”. You see it should be, “I don’t know but I’m going to find out.” You see that means you really care about the customer. “I don’t know” does not really answer a question, and it does not even show that you want to be helpful.

The second group of words to avoid is, “I just started here.” Well that doesn’t matter to me! I want someone who knows and cares about my business, and if you just started and you don’t know please don’t pick up the phone.

So remember that “I don’t know” and “I just started here” are phrases you may want to eliminate from your vocabulary.
